Enjoying Bastille day at Blanzy
All stop its Bastille day. One of the few days in the year when the locks are shut so no movement on the waterways. Good moorings are therefore packed and we were lucky to get a good spot at Blanzy before the mob arrived.
The weather remains very hot and sunny but there is good shade for Gladys to enjoy.
We are off tomorrow and so is everybody else so should be a fun day!. We have reserved a place at one of our favourite moorings, Fragnes, with our favourite Captain, Celine. It will take a few days to get there but we will rest up for the weekend before heading up the Soanne river next week.
Finally, we are still mostly vegans and losing weight progressively and feeing jolly fine.

Surprisingly we are on the move on Bastille Day. The locks on Canal de la Meuse and Marne au Rhin are open. Granted they are automatic but the VNF have already been out to one lock for us.

hope you give them a big tip??

We have also been on the move today and are now at Besancon. Tell Celine she still owes us the chocolate croissants she promised us for helping to move a boat in Fragnes! We had to leave before she arrived. Enjoy yourselves. Jill and Frank

She left the croissants with us but I had to eat them to stop them going stale!

Celine is famous across the waterways. We passed through Fragnes (again) last year and up the Saone. We ended up staying there for some time. Fantastic canal side bike rides and Challon near enough to pedal too. Now at Port de Savoyeux (North on Saone).
