Yippee we are going home!!! We were stuck in Limbo at Gannay waiting patiently for the Canal du Centre to open for us to get to our winter mooring at Montceau. The news this morning is that the Canal du Centre will open for a week starting 17 October and we can now plan our journey to Montceau.
We have had a wonderful summer and the weather looks good for October so we should be able to enjoy another month before we hunker down for the dark winter months.
The planning has already started for next year’s cruising schedule. The choices have been reduced to two, 1. North and East, through Belgium, Holland, Germany and possibly Poland for a truly stunning adventure…or 2. Head south for the sun, the Mediterranean Sea and the infamous midi canal.
I would welcome comments and suggestions from our now many Blog followers.
We are enjoying our time at Gannay with our good friends Celia and Mark, with whom we are having a shared dinner Tomorrow night, their doing the main, and we are doing the starter and pudding, and I have been playing with recipes for the last few days so it should be good fun.
We will then stay here until the weekend and set off in the direction of Montceau on Monday October 3 giving us two weeks to get to the other side of Digoin before the dash to Montceau. It will be pandemonium in Digoin with numerous boats being held up for weeks with the closure but we have a week to sort it out so I do not anticipate any real difficulties.
